A late ’70s Bruton Collection that’s upbeat and optimistic. The jewel in this collection’s crown is undoubtedly Harold Fisher’s “Mercury”, offering fast-paced, “Lorimar”-ish serenity with a haunting synth lead and an eager rhythm guitar, and an infectious switchup that has shades of David Paich’s lead playing on Boz Scaggs’s “Lido Shuffle” breakdown — just outstanding songwriting. Fisher’s “Cutaway” is a jazzy number that will inspire repeat play, not unlike Frank Ricotti’s “Skytrain”, also on this set. The pieces offered by Paul Keogh wouldn’t sound out of place on BRH 9 – The Shape Of Things To Come (see earlier entries). Trevor Bastow offers some strong pieces as well, particularly the opener “Effervescence”. Were you out of ideas for a backdrop to your next road trip, this collection is highly recommended.

Love this, thank you very much! A flac version would be even better. Thanks!

Is it just me or is the sond panned a little more to the right? Quality is superb, but it’s slightly off center. Thanks.
You’re right about that — for some reason that was how it was recorded. It was like that with a number of the Bruton albums I’ve recorded (especially “Focus”), can’t understand why it was like that.
That’s odd, well, when it’s recorded on the record like this then we’ll leave it at that ;)
Thanks for the flac version as well!
The panning issue’s been addressed – check both the MP3 and the FLAC links.
Many thanks!
